The hypothetical opening of the conflict.

Russia late November 1941,the Germans are at the gates of Moscow and prepared to lay siege. It seems Stalin will be removed at any moment. Japan is convinced by Germany that they will not go to war with America (The U Boats will proably bring them in by late 42) and that they should now freely seize the assets of the Colonialist Empires in the Pacific. Germany has given Japan some free use of its available technology to aid this. Instead of reviewing the inevitable conflict with Russia, the Japanese have gathered together all available forces to move against the British Empire and Dutch Empire in particular at short notice, to seize the oil and raw materials and evade the American sanctions.

At the same time fearing a US intervention, Japan has risked all and reintroduced its planned and top-secret attack against the Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor.

However, unknown to the Japanese America has strengthened its isolationist military policies since 1940, even to the point of not helping its potential allies and has removed most of its fleet from the Pacific and returned to its home bases so as not to inflame the chance of conflict. However the large-scale embargo against Japan continues.

The British have known of the intentions of Japan to move against Malaya for a few weeks and Britain has deployed new and strengthened forces hurriedly to the region but America has failed to support them.

However the allies have also failed to detect the plans of Japan against America and three modern aircraft carriers have just returned to Pearl Harbor just a couple of days before the attack.

Assume control of either the Japanese or Allied armed forces in a bid for control of the entire Pacific Basin.
