Pavlov's House - HASL/Valor of the Guards version - Advance of the Reich

CENTRAL CITY, STALINGRAD, RUSSIA, 15 SEPT 1942.//The Germans made their big push to reach the Volga on the 14th of September. Whilst 71st Infanteriedivision drove through the Central Business District, the 295th Infanteriedivision moved toward Mamayev Kurgan. The 518th Grenadier Regt had the job of covering the gap between the two German Divisions. At 9 January Square, the II/518's advance was abruptly halted in front of two Grain Storage buildings which would become known as "Pavlov's House & Zabolotny's House". Several hasty attacks on the structures were beaten back; the Russians were simply too strong. Hunkering down for the evening, the Germans would wait for more soldiers from their battalion to arrive before making another try at the two 'houses'. All through the night the Russians worked to improve their defenses so that as dawn broke on the 15th, the Germans were staring at a layered defense of mines, wire and fortified positions. Undeterred, the Landers completed their preparations and awaited the arrival of assault guns and Combat Engineers. They did not have to wait long... Based on VoTG Scenario 14.
