This campaign lasted only a few days as the OHL reserve and ersatz divisions were too badly mauled to press on any further before the French delivered a blow in the centre and apparently made a breakthrough into an empty German strategic depth, brushing the wings aside, overrunning assembly areas and cutting their supply line.
