It was pain to get off the beaches and past the bunkers, but then the Germans were overwhelmed by the fast and powerful Allied armored units. Still, not all of Caen had fallen in British hands.

Started well for the Germans and the allies had heavy losses on the beaches. But when off the beaches it became an allied romp. Reserves arrived too late and received heavy losses from air attack and paratroopers.
