Hello all, here is SBWW2 West Front,(Squad Battles World War 2),the Mod for Wargame Design Studio's Squad Battles Eagles Strike. You must own the base game already to use this mod. To install, just unzip this mod into the folder where you keep your WDS Squad battles games, it will make a folder with all the files needed EXCEPT the executables and manuals. You will need to copy/paste all the Eagles Strike executables into this new folder to play it, as well as all the manuals into the manuals folder. All the scenario's from here on out in the description will let you know at the end of the description who the combatants are, and who moves first. This is a top down, 2d only game for now, 3D will take me longer than a year to do all the vehicle graphics, of which there are over 876 of them, so don't try to use 3d at all, also no alternate figures, just top down, I am working on a new alternate set, but will take a very long time to compile over 40+ different nations uniforms! I hope you enjoy the mod, will keep making scenario's to support it, even while working on the upcoming mods to the Squad Battles Series. Each title in WW2 will have it's own version of the SBWW2 Mod,I hope to get experienced scenario designers to discover all the tools in this mod to make more scenario's as well, the tools are here to make a scenario from any country involved in West Front warfare in WW2! Here is the link, have fun!!

My purchase of TOD during the winter sale had a ton of missing weapons and mis-identified or missing vehicles.
WDS support was kind enough to point me in the right direction for the missing graphics. These are located in the "Notes" folder "Top down" graphics zip file. I've included the 2D side vehicles for the Map folder to replace the top-down vehicles.
For anyone else having this problem, here is a quick fix for missing graphics.

Use JSGME to install or copy and paste the files to the appropriate folder.

Hello folks, here is SBWW2 East Front Volume II-1943-1945(?). This is a mod, basically a self contained game actually requires Wargame Design Studio Squad Battles Red Victory to play. As the title suggests, this iteration provides battles with 24 countries included included from 1943 to 1945 and beyond! There are over 870 vehicles, hundreds of guns and personal and heavy weapons in the database, so if you are an inclined scenario designer, it is a huge toybox/toolbox for creating virtually limitless possibilities. There are 25 scenario's included, some are fresh makes from myself and my friends who helped test it, John Pirman and Ashley McLeod, and some are conversions from Red Victory, they will play much differently in this mod. Armor values, penetration have been reworked as in Volume I, you will find a more immersive battle situation I believe. As with volume I this is a 2D only mod for now, I am working on 3D but with the sheer amount of vehicles and units, it will most likely be years in the making, as I do all the graphics myself. To install, you must own Red Victory. Download the mod and unzip into the folder you keep your Wargame Design Studio games, it will create a new game directory called SBWW2 East Front Vol. II. In your stock Red Victory game, copy all the existing Executables, and paste them into your new folder provided, and voila. Every scenario will as always have a description, at the beginning will usually be displayed the date, the description, then a brief statement telling you the sides involved and who goes first. Lastly there will be a special statement as to whether the scenario in question uses a special sub-mod you load with JSGME provided. If there is, cancel scenario, load the sub mod by running JSGME, find the suggested mod on the left pane, select it, hit the right facing arrow in the center to enable it, hit ok, let it load, exit. Then, load the scenario again and enjoy changes in the season, camo, etc. specific to the scenario. Remember to disable it by doing the opposite when completing the scenario.

Without further ado, here is the link, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Here is the latest update to the SBWW2 Mod, version 23. Added more scenario's, Hungarian SS, redid some of the unit graphics as well as terrain graphics, also some more weapons and vehicles additions. There are a few new sounds for Inf AT weapons as well.

Here is the link to Version 23, again, if you already have my mod, disable all the terrain etc. sub mods with JSGME, then unzip this into the SBWW2 Folder. If this is your first time, make a new folder called SBWW2 Mod, copy everything from your Advance of the Reich game EXCEPT oob's and scenario's, paste that into the new folder, then unzip my mod into that new folder.
Using the included JSGME modswapper utility, my defaults are usually PzB terrain, Slopes Base in that order. Scenario descriptions will inform you if you need to install some terrain for a specific scenario!
Enjoy!!

This mod is intended to be used with NATO graphics selected while in 2D mode. I was always a little put off because the vehicle graphics couldn't face in the direction they were travelling in, and various combinations of "talking heads", vehicle silhouettes, top downs etc. weren't doing the job for me either. Additionally, the smaller graphics were not very visible. I feel the NATO graphics unifies everything on the 2D map, and makes the above issues go away to a certain extent.
I have borrowed bits and pieces from many sources besides my own for this compilation. My thanks goes out to Richie61, Xerxes77, IronX, Jison, and Bigus for their great work, of which I have borrowed some bits and bobs from each of their previous creations. I've also repurposed portions from various other games in the John Tiller / WDS pantheon, and I'm grateful to the late John Tiller for the many hours of enjoyment his games have given me through the years. Any errors in this compendium are mine alone.
Set up to be activated with JSGME, or can be dropped directly into the ES main directory. JSGME included in download.

Added:

M43 Stielhandgranate "potato masher" (graphics, load, and weapon)
M2 Grenade "pineapple" (graphics, load, and weapon)
M9 AT Rifle Grenade (for M1 & M1903 - load and weapon)
GwP AT Rifle Grenade (for Gewehr 98 - load and weapon)
NATO style wireframes for all Vehicles, Guns, and appropriate Heavy Weapons (both sizes 50 and 100)
"Barber Pole" unit highlighting (2D and 3D)
Updated style of 2D Unit & Vehicle chits
Updated style of 3D Unit bases
Numerous tweaks to Vehicle, Gun, and Heavy Weapons Graphics
Database tweaks
Revamped Leader, Unit, Weapon and Vehicle boxes
Desaturated 3D terrain graphics so they're not as gaudy looking as previously
Adjusted 2D Normal, Mud, Snow, and Soft graphics for better visualization of height levels
Tweaks to 2D and 3D Symbols (sizes 50 & 100)
New Cover, Win, Lose, Draw graphics

The last couple of updates to SB resulted in a significant number of units either displaying wrong images or displaying no image at all.

In the majority of cases the databases the game uses are just pointing to the wrong image file. Usually there aren't actually any images missing its just that the database either can't find them or finds the wrong one.
This brief guide shows you how to fix this problem for any SB game. The fix takes just a few mouse clicks.

SB HQ (Squad Battles Launcher) v.1.5.5 (new!)

Xerxes77

SBHQ is a launcher/front end for the Squad Battles series. Its primary purpose is to provide a single point of access to a collection of SB titles and includes a few handy features for designers as well.

Installation is as simple as it gets - just unzip the file attached and drop SBHQ.exe in the root folder where your SB games are installed (it can coexist with the official WDS launcher). Double click to run. Once started, SBHQ.exe will look for available SB games under the root folder (including mods, as long as they're installed as separate folders containing a recognized executable) and will ask the user to select one of the titles found. Once a game is selected, the screen shown above will appear, from which you can launch a scenario, play a saved game, manage mods (through JSGME) and open/edit auxiliary files like .oobs, .pdts, manuals, etc.

The behavior of the different sections of the program should be for the most part self-explanatory. A few notes:

- Columns in the main scenario list can be sorted by clicking on the column header. They are also resizable.
- Clicking on the main game title at the top will bring back the game selection dialog.
- The radio buttons allow filtering by game status (new / old) or mode (except for Direct-Play, currently not supported).
- The "Play" button will launch the game and start the selected scenario automatically, bypassing the classic File Selection Dialog.
- The "Autoplay" button is is only available for campaign-enabled titles. Essentially, it lets the user watch the computer fight against itself (AI scripts must be defined for both sides). When clicked, the Autoplay button will create a "dummy" scenario named "#### Autoplay ####.scn" and launch the SB game as usual. The dummy Autoplay scenario should be then selected in the File Selection Dialog in-game like any regular scenario. The difference is that you will see the battle play out automatically, with the AI against itself. This is mostly for fun, but can also help adjust balance issues or tune the AI performance in a given scenario.
- The "Mods" button interacts with JGSME. It will open it directly and allow easy management of mods for the different games. This function requires that SBHQ.exe be launched with administrator rights, otherwise it will throw an error.
- On the lower right corner you can select to see a group of useful files or a preview of the scenario map.

The launcher can be invoked via a shortcut that can be pinned to the taskbar/desktop. This provides easy access to a user's full SB collection with just a few clicks.

This is a fun project I started for myself just to use the Autoplay feature, and kept growing into a frontend. I intend to keep working on it as time allows. Hopefully it may provide some enjoyment to others. As usual, looking forward to comments, feedback, requests, etc.

Current version: 1.5.5

Changelog:

v.1.5.5
- Important note: This version should work with both 4.0 and the new 4.01 versions, however the Autoplay feature will not work in the latter. - Stock editors (sqedit.exe, sqoob.exe, etc) can now be run simultaneously
- Various small fixes

v.1.5.1
- Hotfix: Added support for Squad Battles: Falklands. (D'oh!!) All SB titles should be picked up by the program now.

v.1.5.0
New Features:

- Added support for encrypted PBEM saves (before they were just ignored. Doh!)
- Requested: Added support for JSGME.exe when installed in locations other than the main game folder. JSGME.ini must still present in each game folder for proper redirection.
- Added flags for the combatants/factions participating in each scenario.
- Map Thumbnails! Added a new panel that shows a "stylized" preview of the map for the selected scenario. Clicking on the thumbnail will open a larger view, with the possibility of saving the .bmp of the map to the game folder with the format '[Scenario_filename].bmp'.

Bug fixes:

- Fixed issue when loading scenarios with wrong map data.
- Fixed issue when the user pressed Cancel while trying to change the game.
- A plethora of changes and fixes for improved exception handling.
