Hi all,

While not complete, as far as there is some reason the background sounds and music don't work, and sometimes in PBEM it might crash, here is Korean War 2.02, updated to the standard of the rest of the Campaign Series! I don't have any more time to spend on it right now, so it is as is, but I have been enjoying the hell out of it. Campaigns will not work either, so for now it is just scenario's, I updated some of the existing scenario's to use the new night/day format, so no need to tinker with the bte/btl files.

Unzip into the John tillers Campaign Series folder, it will make a folder, Korean War 2.02. To play, use the Korean War.exe , as well as the other KW executables to use map, scenario and org editors. Don't use any of the RS ones. I removed them and had trouble, so I left them in for now, I am no programmer so I have no clue why this is.

Hope you have fun with it!
Could you explain in some detail how the I.E.D.'s work in your KW update?
I'm fiddling with a fictional scenario and if they work they way I think they do; somewhat like mines but unseen it would make the scenario more than interesting.

Hey all,

Many thanks to Wyatt for taking the time to make a new set of exe's for me, based on the unofficial 1.04.5 set. This inspired me to go over the oob's, add new capabilities/units, added a whole new bunch of NATO symbols for the 2D views, and redid a lot of the formations and some of the graphics.

I still have many, many pictures and unittxt entries to fill in yet, but wanted to get this out to you guys now, as I'm really getting busy with Matrix/Slitherine with the new games. Please read the text file called Korea War unit capabilities, for a brief on some of the new stuff.

To use-

JSGME users, make a new folder, call it what you like, then unzip/extract this file into it.

Non-JSGME users, unzip this into your Korean War 2.0 game, overwrite everything prompted to.

ALL users!! Important, please remove the old RS.exe, RSorg.exe, RSmap.exe, RSedit.exe, and Rising Sun.exe from the game folder, and use the new KW/Korean War.exe to use the game.

Here is the link, as always, any questions, feel free to email me.
Small glitch in Korean War mod. I'm testing a new custom scenario that I am working on with the Columbians as part of the Allied side and I noticed the 60mm Mortar platoon (SP-3) has no range.
Thought I'd pass it along.

Hello all,

I noticed recently from the downloads of the mod, that there is still an interest in this mod. I'm very sorry that I have been idle with any further scenario's updates to this, I've been extremely busy with other mods/RL, and somehow it got sent to the back burner!

I would like to pick up on this again, so, I would appreciate if any of the fellows working on scenarios could check in on this post, with their input on anything they are, or would be interested in working on?! Playtesters are always welcome, my scenerios Chip'yong-ni, Crombez, and Night Attack could all use a few more run-throughs to finalize them.

Anyhow, just want folks to know I haven't forgotten about the "Forgotten War", and will somehow try to find some time to do updates/scenario's soon!

Hi all, so far, I've played the Korean War bootcamp scenarios, (all of them), two regular scenarios (completed) and started a campaign game.

This is a really nice mod, but I really struggle as the Koreans or Chinese on this one - the allied weaponry is really lethal. Reductions by three are common. I have often found that often, the best way to beat a scenario is to do something really unconventional (like avoid the lowlands that contain the objectives and drive through tough back country to get to the exit hex - leaving the enemy force almost intact).

I have mixed feelings on the changes for 2.0 - the new unit into box is a bit tough to read (those little terrain pictures are so tiny) looks like you're going for the "K'talan look," - but it is functional. Btw, I have a big 22" monitor. At first, I didn't like the new 'rising sun' terrain template, but once I realized we had to have rice paddies, I changed my mind. (I only saw the old terrain template / version once right before 2.0 came out though, so correct me if you changed that - the terrain sure looked different to me after I downloaded the 2.0 version).

I did not locate any specific instructions for banzai charges in the readme files - am i to assume the Chinese and North Koreans can make these kinds of attacks? Also, *how* do i make these kinds of attacks?

Overall: fun mod, challenging tactically, nice sound effects and new skins for new units. Very violent scenarios though - each side can nearly decimate one another if you go the frontal assault route in most scenarios I've played. IMO, this mod has every potential of being just as fun as the rest of the JTCS.

P.S. You have to think outside the box many times to win a scenario - which is sometimes a non-violent route. One night time scenario I played (not a boot camp one) leaned heavily allied - firing at point blank range on NK units was pure brutality (I was playing NK - I lost). So there might me some balance issues with a few scenarios (could also be I misunderstood my objectives or maybe I need some serious practice).

Hey all, please unzip this into your KWM folder, and overwrite. There is a log in the zip of what got changes essentially all the PLA infantry were just plain too strong. Combined with the unique Human Wave ability, most scenario's were finding the UN sitting in a prison camp, scratching their heads, saying, what the F just happened!!!

These units have showed to be much more realistic in testing, any scenario's with them ideally should be modified to contain about a reduction to 25% of existing units being regulars (the default, which I kept in), the rest should be the Green units. However, if you don't want to, the existing rifle platoon is reduced in firepower already, so it will most likely be ok. Again, sorry for yet another update, but this is what is so important about testing!!! Here is the file-http://dl.dropbox.com/u/58654449/New%20PLA.zip
