Overlord
Anybody here ever played the Overlord scenario? I think maybe not too many, but if you have, maybe u could enlighten me. I'm currently about 30 turns into this huge 1200 turn game and already my opponent has accumulated enough points for a major victory as Allies. Now I dont consider myself an expert in CS, but neither do I consider myself a particularly bad player either but I'm damned if I know what I'm doin wrong here. If u have played this before, did the same thing happen in your battle? I guess I'm just tryin to figure out whether its worth carrying on with a game that may take a couple of years to complete but seems already lost.

RE: Overlord
“What shall we do?" was asked "What shall we do?” Von Rundstedt replied, “Make peace, you fools!"

Sorry not meaning to be rude just quoting, but if you have lost already and have no decent reinforcements that are due to be coming your way, that could change the situation or you are not in the position to make them bleed badly to go on then go with the advice and save yourself a lot of game time.

WTF???!!!! Be right back.

Are you talking about "Operation Overlord" by Cox (I think)? If so, where did you get a copy. I don't see it available for download in the scenario section. 1200 turns - holy cow. Reminds me of that scenario someone was building like 10 years ago or so that was supposed to make the entire Eastern Front. Was that ever finished???

If you run, you'll only die tired.

"This is a game, not reality you fool", Falco replied.

Erm....sorry, but a glib posting requires a pretty glib counter-post.....lol.

Actually my opponent sent me via e-mail. Not at all sure where he got it from but it was created by someone called H.G.Baltjes. Never heard of the Eastern Front scenario but it sounds as though that would dwarf even this Overlord battle!

RE: Overlord
Hello All,

I guess my first question would be:

How in the hell did he score 9000 (Allied Major Victory) more points than you in 30 turns?

There are 12,075 points worth of objectives with the biggest being 500 points (St. Lo).

Something seems amiss to me.

I have the files if anyone needs them.

Thanx!

Hawk

This sceanrio was created using TS but it does appear to run just fine in JTCS.

Enjoy!

Thanx!

Thats what I'd like to know too! Something seems seriously wrong. Thats why I was keen to hear from anyone who may have played this before. Perhaps my opponent and myself have been the only ones loony enough to take this one on....lol. This battle isnt listed in the CS scenario listings but I see the one by James D. Cox is (titled Operation Overlord). However that one appears to be only 120 turns long.

Hawk, could you send me your Overlord file also? I would be keen to check the specs on your version as compared to the version my opponent sent me. Also would like to add at this point I'm not at all trying to cast any aspersions on my opponent, its possible this entire situation could be entirely my own fault. Its just that I've been playing this for a good few years now, and for one side to have this huge a lead with 95% of the battle still to play seems damn odd.
