Advice on movie
Anyone see the Finnish movie "Ambush" about a Finnish platoon behind Russian lines in 1942? Any good or suck weenies?

Or

El Alamein: The Line of Fire about Italian soldiers, an Italian film.

RE: Advice on movie
Ambush is a good movie but more about people than fighting ... if I remember correctly, it's been quite a long time since I saw it. It is possible that a Finn can find more from the subtle differences in the behavior of the soldiers than someone else might. Worth to watch IMO.

Can be in 1941 ?
War begins and platoon Finnish the soldier on bicycles go in deep recon mission.
The wife of the Finnish officer is taken prisoner to Russian, but in the end of film they will meet.
2/3 soldier will be lost during history.

Film has very much liked, as in it characters the soldier are perfectly shown !

I do not know as it refers to in the original, the Russian name " In rear of the enemy ".

The original name would be translated as "The road of Rukajärvi (Lake Ruka)"

Ok, that sounds frigging lame. Ok guys, we are on a deep recon mission in enemy territory. Oh wait a minute, while we are there I will save my wife who, for some reason, has been captured and taken to Russia, exactly to the place we are going.

I will skip that movie.

RE: Advice on movie
It did not rescue the wife, and carried out the order.
It not sentimental film !

It is film about people on war.
Yesterday they were civil, today became soldiers.
At all of them this process of transformation occurs on a miscellaneous.

RE: Advice on movie
Don't skip it.. it's much better than most war movies around. I liked it and enjoyed watching the different characters in the patrol develop too. Not much of the all to common heroistic crap either.. the men feels like real men.
