"Save as" same as "Save" ?

"Save as" same as "Save" ?
I have upon occasion ended my turn and then "saved as" and got distracted. Gone back to my turn and thought that perhaps I had not "saved as" and "saved as" again just to make sure.

I've tested this proceedure with opponents and discovered that it is recorded as a "saved" turn????????????????

The purpose of the reported "saved" turns was to twart any possible cheating, but when you end your turn, there is nothing more you can do about movement or "cheating" and if you happen to "save as" more than once, it is reported as if you had saved the game during your turn.

This is a glitch in the program that should be noted.

I may be the only person that ever has this situation, but it should be noted so that others are aware.

!!mg_jp_00.bte

plays "alright" through to the end

save as !!mg_jp_01.bte

reload !!mg_jp_00.bte

plays "horrible" through to the end

decide to keep the results of !!mg_jp_01.bte

change file name to !!mg_jp_00.bte

zip and send.

There shouldn't be a reason to use the Save As function when playing a PBEM game.

Regardless, there is always a way if one really wants to. The key is finding quality opponents where that won't be an issue.

So if I have named my PBEM game file, say, ahopelesscause.bte and I hit the next turn button do I have to hit save as ahopelesscause.bte from the file menu to make sure that the game saved under the right name? Because I do.

Thanks

What about tourneys when you don't pick your opponent?

Don't play for money. ;)

Unless it is a live game, of course.

No, that isn't necessary.

Opening ahopelesscause.bte from the resume game menu will automatically save to ahopelesscause.bte so using Save As is not necessary.

YES INDEED,

Thank you once again Jason for your wisdom and assistance.

I've been ending my turn and "saving as" for years. Tried just ending my turn and exiting the scenario and that works fine as described.

I've asked a couple of my opponents to report my "saves" as reported to them and found that they no longer get a message :-)
