c_Question Mark  SPWW2 CD version ??
:whis::whis:
Hi folks,

I would like to buy the SPWW2 CD full game version.
As far as I know I could order them from shrapnel games
only. But I´ve experienced problems with entering my credit
card number via internet !

Does anybody know were I can get the CD in Europe ?
Ebay I ´ve tried already.

Thanks for help,

Cheers, Klaus ( Jolly Roger )

I think you're stuck with buying it from Shrapnel.

I did it a year ago, and had no hassles. Postage to England was quite reasonable, and it arrived swiftly.

I am not 100% sure it is worth it to tell the truth. Sure you get lots of email slots, but those are only handy if your opponent also has the cd version, which 90% of the members do not.

The combat filter is over rate IMO, I never use it. It is good for setting an ambush (like a squad sitting in the woods beside a road) but other then that...

I don't use it myself.

RE: SPWW2 CD version ??
Hello Guys,

I don't have the CD version either.. yet.. but I sometimes see the filters as an obstacle..

For instance, the filter allows a player to set a MBT not to fire at units with XX amount of armor.. thus preserving the OP fire for more dangerous threats..

But.. in MBT many scout vehicles and other very light armor carry a gun or other weapons system that can kill MBT's.. so if you set the filter, and a British FV432 shows up with it's 120mm WOMBAT RR gun loaded with high penetration HEAT rounds.. well the MBT will sit there like a Buffalo and calmly wait to die because the filter prevents the 'wasting' of OP-fire shots against 'non-threatening' opponents..

Or.. if the OP-fire target is 'low threat'.. like a HT armed with a .50 cal blundering into a Leo.. what's to stop the HT (or several of them) from hosing down the Leo with 50cal fire.. which causes supression.. and enough supression generates vulnerability.. so when the MBT that can kill you shows up, your crew is laughing so hard at the efforts of the HT's that they get caught taking a leak..

:)

Hi folks,

thanks for your comments.
Maybe it´s not a big deal with the full version.

One information in return Matrix has overtaken Shrapnel Games
and announces a follow up Steel Panther version,
including features of all versions and of unpublished game
"Combat commander".

I would encourage you to get the CD.

Best $35 I ever spent.

As for the credit card. Just make sure the site is https (s for secure) that you have spyware, a firewall and your OS is up to date.

NWS ships worldwide, fair prices and good service.

I bought both WW2 and MBT to show my support for the Camo guys. I like the 1024x768 ability and extra save slots. I don't use the other CD features.

RE: SPWW2 CD version ??
I own the WW2 CD but not the MBT CD, as I rarely play MBT.

I just went on MBT and I was shocked at how poor the graphics are. I noticed a huge difference in the terrain, but the vehicles are barely indentifyable. I found myself squinting and stuff.

I don't know how you guys play the download version?

If you spend even an hour a week playing winSP, you are nuts for not buying the CD. I can't even take someone to see a movie for that price (after popcorn).

I guess it's like modem/broadband, once you've had broadband, you can never go back.

They say a picture's worth a 1000 words

I couldn't get the exact same picture in frame; so the first is CD, the second two are DL version zoomed in a bit more than CD then zoomed out a bit more than CD.

Make sure you click on the images TWICE to bring up full detail.

CD version at 1280x1024 (can go to 1600x1400):

Notice detail of halfTrack among buildings on left.
Notice shape of PzIV turret to far right.

Here's same screenshot at 800x600 (had to zoom out a little further):

Notice half track among buildings on left.

Here's 800x600 but zoomed in a little:

[Image: download2tc3.th.jpg][/img]

Notice Pz IV turret on right

It is great that the resolutions can go so high, but I have found that too high a resolution makes it very hard on the eyes so I just play at 1024X760. Do you find this?
