Question(s) for Volcano Man
On the thread that introduced you, it says you were in 4-67. If I remember correctly, the 67th was at Ft. Hood, as part of 2AD, at the same time I was there. I was in 2d FSB (Forward Support Bn) at that time, in '84 and '85. I always enjoyed going out to the ranges there and watching tank gunnery, what an impressive show that was! ...and the creativity of the names on the tank gun tubes, what's on your tank now?

Now to the actual question: I'm still new at PzC and working my way through the France '40 campaign, on turn 45 now, and using your alt scenario. There's one division headquarters unit floating around toward the north that doesn't have any subordinate units attached. I assume you put that there in order to allow for attachments from other units. I just want to ask if this is correct and if you have any other recommendations about what should be done with this HQ.

Thanks for any enlightenment you can provide and thank you also for all the work you did on the alt scenarios and the superb mods that I'm now using in all the PzC games that I have.

That might very well be the case, some time in the early 90s or so I think 2AD was deactivated and the reshuffled the Regt designations around. In 97 or so it changed from 4-67 AR to 1-37 AR. My last tank (in A/1-37 AR) was "Armored Death" or something like that. Alpha company always had it easy to come up with tank names because we figured out that all you had to do is put "Armored" (not "Armoured" Foul :)) in front of anything. "Armored Hobo" for example. ;)

I am not familiar with that HQ unit, it must be something from the stock game. If it is indeed a Div HQ with no units then it wouldn't have any real effect on attachements. If it was a corps HQ then I would say that it was indeed added so that you could attach units to it and expand your command. Not sure why a lone Div HQ would appear though.

RE: Question(s) for Volcano Man
Well, I didn't start this thread to be nit-pickin' about mouse turds, but the HQ is there in two of your alt scenarios. Specifically, it's present in the 0510-01 alt and the 0510-01x alt, but not in the 02 alt. It's not present in any of the stock scenarios. It's the 217th Infantry Division HQ starting unfixed at hex 361,41, and subordinate to the XXVII Corps. It's populated by 90 lonely guys who have morale "D" because, with no subordinate units, they have nothing to do.

Your comments indicate that attachments can't be done at Division level, only at Corps or above. I didn't know that, but I'm very lazy about reading rules. I haven't tried doing any attachments yet, although I notice that some divisions end up getting scattered all over the map. I just try to move them back toward their parent HQ as soon as practicable.

Thanks for your response to my questions.

RE: Question(s) for Volcano Man
Hmm, the only other explanation is that it WAS in the stock version at the time that I made the _Alt conversion but that it was later removed in an F40 update. I will look into it though.

RE: Question(s) for Volcano Man
Ok, I see the HQ you are referring to in both scenarios and I removed them for the next _Alt update. Such a shame, I wasted my time making a nice insignia for it. ;)

RE: Question(s) for Volcano Man
My apologies to the 217th staff. I really thought they had some reason to be there, but now I see that my questions have caused them to be obliterated from the face of the map.
