Just letting you know that the Bulge '44_Alt pack has been updated. Head over to www.volcanomods.com to get it.

In addition to some graphical tweaks, here is a list of some specific changes:

v.XV

-Tweaked the deployment of some US units in the #16_07s_Peiper_Alt sector to allow for more historical results. Completely cleared the Monschau – Elsenborn road so that US reinforcements can freely flow.

-Increased allied protection zones around some reinforcement hexes in the #16_07s_Peiper_Alt scenario. This was done to prevent gamey German behavior where Peiper’s forces can simply fortify and contain reinforcements.

-Removed the US VIII Corps HQ unit from the #16_07s_Peiper_Alt scenario. This was done because in the campaign scenario the VIII Corps HQ starts well out of range (located vicinity Bastogne), and the HQ unit never moves into range of the units located in St Vith.

-Gave the US 7th Armored Division historical arrival times and locations on the north of map (in Peiper_Alt scenario). Historically they moved south across Peiper’s front and he just missed running into them. The 7th Armored Division took up position northwest of St Vith at Poteau and Rethl.

-In the Peiper_Alt scenario, VP levels were lowered by 100 points for play balance.

-Removed the Allied 90% supply source south of St Vith. This was done to stress the importance of defending the route to the west through Vielsalm.

-Increased the VP levels of objectives in the St Vith area. (all of these changes mean that it would be an intelligent decision by the Allied player to send the 7th Armored Division to their historical locations to help defend St Vith or else the allied player will loose a large amount of VPs)

-Removed a few of the obstacles in the St Vith area that was previously added. This was done to allow the US 7th Armored Division to move along its historical routes through Stavelot-Wanne and Malmedy-Rethl.

-Reduced the US 7th Armored Division’s Combat Engineer battalion to D quality (from C) and combined it so that it cannot break down. This was done because historically it moved to St Vith to help in the defense and in the construction of field works for the 7th AD, and it did not split up to go demo every bridge along the Warche. So, essentially this change was done for play balance and to prevent a-historical play as much as possible.

-Slightly adjusted US starting positions in the vicinity of Monschau to allow for the historical flow of reinforcements to occur.

-In the _Alt campaign scenarios, strengthened the positions of part of the US 106th ID (southeast of St Vith). This was done to allow for historical levels of resistance in this area, rather than an immediate breakthrough by the 116th Pz Div in every campaign. Historically, the US 106th ID resisted well enough to be able to withdraw the infantry brigade in this area to defend St Vith. This is not possible with the stock disposition in this area.

-Changed supply range from supply wagon and supply truck units from 10 to 5 hexes. This was done to allow the user to exert greater control on what units receive supplies.

Enjoy!
