Off Topic  PBS War by Ken Burns - weird broadcast schedule
Ya - I know we all heard it is comming and most of us likely know it starts Sunday Night (9pm MST for me). But what I discovered when I was flipping through the PBS Website tonight was there are seven eposides with shows running for four nights straight - then skipping three nights, followed by running for three more straight nights again.

The Seven Episodes and air dates are listed below.

1 A Necessary War 9/23/2007
2 When Things Get Tough 9/24/2007
3 A Deadly Calling 9/25/2007
4 Pride of Our Nation 9/26/2007
5 FUBAR 9/30/2007
6 The Ghost Front 10/1/2007
7 A World Without War 10/2/2007

yup an odd schedule for sure. The Vicar of Dibly must be a popular show even without a choir :conf:

I sure feel sorry for you guys!

I don't even get PBS over here in Germany. They'll show it here about a half year from now in German language, and that kind of ruins it. I'll be looking for the DVD at the closest PX.

Still, I wonder how they'll translate "FUBAR" (?)

The Buffalo PBS station is right in the middle of their pledge drive so they'll probably mangle the program by cutting into to it every 1/2 hour or so.:hissy:

P.S. Dawn French isn't funny!!!

In the first episode they sure took MacArthur to task. Someone on the staff didn’t like him, that’s for sure.

As for Dawn French, well, that's because British comedies aren't funny. The funniest show out of the isles since Python was Irish - "Father Ted."

I thought I had seen a lot of footage on WW2. The creators of this series seem to have found more. There are scenes of combat footage that are pretty new mixed in with imagery we have all seen many times.

There is nothing better than the testimony of eye witnesses to events.

Here at RMPBS, they play each episode back to back, twice on the same night. So if I work late and miss the first half hour I can pick it up after the end during the second showing.

I'm recording the series on my Dish Network DVR box, but I can't figure out how to get it onto the PC for dvd burning :(

what little I watched while recording looked pretty good so far.
