Bridge Ops in M44 and B45

I have two games going one campaign M44 and a campaign B45

In these games I have about total 20 Engineers on bridge ops but only 1 has built a bridge and in M44 not one unit has managed to take down a bridge and I am on turn 20 or so in both games

I noticed Engineer companies now have a reduced chance but I wonder if its too low -is everything ok with this issue ?

I have the same issue in B45 and was going to post about it shortly if the problem continued. And it has. Six engineers working for almost 10 turns have failed to build or dismantle a single bridge. PDT bridge value is at 45%, engineers moral A to C, 67-395 men in strength. Any help is appreciated.

ok at least I am not alone , i know co. sized units have reduced chance but I do not know how much reduced

I think you must be unlucky. I am playing the Russians in M44 campaign and have had plenty of engineers put up and take down bridges and we are on about turn 28. It can take a while to take down a bridge but I have seen it happen in one or two turns. On average I would say it takes 5 or 6 turns.

IIRC, B44 was designed to take a while longer for Germans to build bridges than in other PzC. This was by design. The rivers in the battle were not large, except the Meuse, but they did have steep banks. Building a bridge in winter, and this was a cold winter, in freezing water, can take longer than in the summer. Some of the German engineer units were nothing more than labor gangs. They did not have special equipment. They had axes and saws to cut nearby timber to construct their bridges in some cases.
The Germans were on the end of their rope by the time of the Bulge battle and I think the frustration most players have with the bridging operations is consistent with the same frustration of the historical commanders.

Since you mentioned B45, I looked at he bridge building values are 45% for both sides. This is lower than B44 I think. Anyway, with it being so low for both sides, it must be by design that it is rare to build a bridge in this title but I am not sure of the historical circumstances surrounding it.
