atry not on target
Question:
In a QB i bought a soviet regular spotter (75mm 100 round) In the game i targeted it (blue line!!) and waited the full 5 minutes. After this time rounds started impacting some 300 meters behind the target!
After the minut playtime i retarget it some meters (green line) and waited again. Amazing/frustrating again 300 meters miss! Now i'm almost out of round and got not a single round on target. Someone an explanation for this???:conf:

It's obvious he was not a top student in the artillery class of '37 but still made it to the rank of Lt and is now directing traffic for the divisional artillery group.
a talk with you local NKVD or party commissar might straighten him out or perhaps even get him a shallow grave out back of your HQs tent

Sounds to me like he got off pretty easy then with just the proverbial "slap on the wrist"

ANYTHING, and unfortunately I do mean anything, that gets between him and that impact area will turn his request to area fire. If he gets pinned/broken or suppressed in any way, if you hide him, smoke or fire between him and the impact area....almost if a cloud goes by will change it from observed fire to area fire.
Hope this helps.
Good Hunting.

RE: atry not on target
not entirely true... I have SOMEtimes been able to get it nearer by walking the green line an inverse direction away from the target. (ie. if missing 400m north readjust south of actual target.) this occasionally gets it close. however in CMBB it is extremely difficult to get artillery to fall where you want... If you fart while moving the mouse pointer you could kill your own troops... it also seems to have a grid glitch. that is once you're off, even targets redone into entirely different areas will still hit the same 9 squares when it misses...

Here's what most likely happened in that situation.
The "spotting round" (before fire for effect is called in) has landed out side the spotters visibility. Therefore the Art observer was unable to call in a correction. The result is a random barrage, etc..
