Do I have this right?

c_Question Mark  Do I have this right?
(Indirect Fire) I plot an M3 105mm Howitzer two hexes in front of an advancing column of 3 separate Engineer Platoons and they happen to stop right in my cross hairs. When my artillery fires, I have the opportunity of doing no damage, some damage, or a considerable amount of damage to more than one of the platoons?

(Direct Fire) If I can see the hex containing the 3 separate Engineer Platoons, I can only fire on one particular one (or two if I can fire twice).

(Opportunity Fire) Given the aforementioned situation, the program would randomly select the particular platoon I am firing at?

Is this then a crap shoot? Potentially more damage caused using Indirect Fire, but less chance of causing damage because of the distances involved?

Is it a wash or is one of the three traditionally more effective (all things considered)?

Thank you,

Pat

Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.

In this situation, I would most likely direct fire once and then load the gun up and get it out of the enemies line of sight. Unless the gun is in a bunker, of course..........
