The battle of Morhange/Von Moltke's indecisiveness
Hello,

First of all I enjoy with France '14, it's a great game.
I just start the scenario "Von Moltke's indecisiveness" (Battle of Morhange in french)
against my opponent Teuton "Burroughs" and I have a desire and a question. ; )
I respect the choice of the designer to start scenario 10 hours before
the general of Castelnau ordered a retreat. ; )
Can you imagine a day enlarge map a little to the right?
Where is the "coloniale brigade" engage on the left of the 20th CA?
(see the map)

I look forward to discover France '15 (Argonne, Champagne, Artois), France '16 (Verdun, Somme) etc.. ;)

Thanks for the kind words. :)

As for the "colonial brigade", as far as I know, this is the collection of colonial infantry that 20e CA had as a corps level reserve (41e & 43e RIC). That said, it looks like I overlooked them on the map there, as I have them in reserve but they should really be between 68e DR and 20e CA. I will fix that in the next update. ;)

RE: The battle of Morhange/Von Moltke's indecisiveness
I have some precisions on the "colonial brigade".

It is called "detachment Wirbel" formed of 5e hussards and 43e colonial (For the events of August 20 only).
Its mission on August 20:
"...will finally be assigned to cover the left of the corps, taking the northern edge of
the Chateau-Salins forest, and to liaise with the 2e groupe de divisions
de réserve who must occupy the region Viviers, Fonteny with the 68e Division;
the latter is placed for this purpose under the command of the 20e Corps. "

It is possible to attach the 68e DR to 20e CA at the beginning of the scenario ? ; )

No, this is not possible. Well, I mean it could be attached but then it would be permanently attached to the 20e CA, since true attachments work at the army level in FWWC.

situation maps August 20, 1914 at 5 in the morning (80,000th)

If the 11e and 39e DI seem okay except the absence of the outpost north of the village of Oron.
68th DR does not occupy Delme.
70e DR has outpost.
59e DR has outpost, village of Nomeny particular.

I do not know if this can serve ...[Image: 70e%20DR.jpg][Image: 68e%20DR.jpg][Image: 59e%20DR.jpg][Image: 39e%20DI%20%2011e%20DI.jpg]

RE: The battle of Morhange/Von Moltke's indecisiveness
I already had the outpost north of Oron when I added the Hussars to the flank there.

As for the 68e DR, I don't know, this seems to conflict with information I had before, so I am reluctant to move them back that far. It also doesn't make sense to me if 68e DR was attached to the 20e CA to cover its flank, but the map has them all the way behind 70e DR to the far south, so I am hesitant given that I must of had a map that put them where they are now.

Focus on the 68e DR ! ;) (Sources from the JMO 68e DR & 234e RI)

Volcano, the division Brun d'Aubignosc (68e DR) actually occupies Delme
but not by force. It has an outpost consisting by a single battalion, the VI battalion of 234e RI.

Here the position of rest of the division :

Red Square (Lemoncourt : Command post & 206e RI,
A (village Oriocourt) : Staff 135e Bde & 323e RI
B (village Donjeux) : 234e RI
Delme : VI battalion of 234e RI
Laneuveville-en-Saulnois : Staff 126e Bde, 212e RI, 2 artillery groups, engineer company
C ( village Fonteny (hex 44,37 nameless village) : 344e RI, 1 artillery group
D (village Faxe) : 344e RI
Viviers : 206th RI with outposts on Hannocourt-Delme line.
E (village de Hannocourt hex 41,34) (my letter E is wrong spot. It must be 2 km north of Viviers)
