Banning
The player Joe Drover has been banned from the Club and will be removed from the ladders. If you have a game outstanding against him you have 30 days to report it, after which time he will be shadowed and no additional games will be reportable.

The reason for this action is because this player had been banned previously under other Call Signs. Joe Drover, aka Andrew Young, aka John Commissar, aka Frank Laurent, aka JP Dasseville, aka Black_Wolf.

To those who reported their suspicions and may have thought we ignored you, I thank you for your patience and understanding while we made sure we had the right man.

Well there's a name that has not popped up in a long time!

RE: Banning
His first banning was even before my time here I believe. I wonder what the reason was back then. If it was for cheating then I'm glad he's gone. If it was for 'misbehaviour' on the boards, then perhaps he's grown up after so many years. Oh well I don't know. Fortunately I don't have tomake these decisions.

RE: Banning
John/Joe/what ever his real name is, was never banned for cheating. His original banning was for some very bad behavior publicly and privately, that involved stories too bizarre to go into details on but involved faked deaths, and impersonations of diplomatic personnel, among other things.

To be fair he has moments when he really is, a decent chap, but I suspect he can not moderate his behavior through no fault of his own, and is deserving of our sympathies more than our scorn. But it's a full time job trying to deal with it, and that's not fair to me, the staff, or the members.

RE: Banning
Huh. Well this is surprising...and disappointing. :(

Joe just e-mailed me and resigned both games. I never suspected anything unsportsmanlike - his play is really good, especially for a new player, but I was still ahead in points. We were playing a mirrored game, and I thought he was doing fine...

Kinda sad things went this way.

Paul, when you mention others players were "e-mailing their suspicions," what kind of suspicions? I only ask because I never had any. PM me on this if you feel it's necessary.

This guy's history and hysteria with the club goes back at least 5 or 6 years.

I will mention one of the stunts he pulled on the club way back when.

He sent an e-mail that claimed to be from his wife. It stated that he had commited suicide because he lost a match.

That was but one of a score of incidents that happened. You would have never had any suspicions if you had not run across this chap several years ago.

I would think that it is probably be time to move along at this point.

Thanx!

I meant their suspicions that Joe was Black_Wolf. If you had never experienced any of the previously banned characters you would never think anything about it.

Sound advice Erik. I don't want to belabor the point.

If anyone feels the need to discuss it please drop me an email. I'm not one who favors airing more dirty laundry in public than is absolutely necessary.
