			| Return of the 'Moderated' Game
					Hi folks,
a couple of years ago I presented a concept known as a 'moderated' game..

This is where a 3rd party creates the PBEM game, and does the troop purchasing for both sides.. as well as setting the password..

This allows each player to deploy troops as they wish.. but creates the fog of war where you get what is available (you won't know what you have in force composition until you open the game)..

I always try for balanced play.. and in times past the feedback was usually very positive..

For those of you who might be interested.. you need to find an opponent, decide when/where/who for the battle countries.. and basic parameters.. (point allowance, air, para's, artillery - you know all the typical stuff)..

Provide the information to me along with e-mail contact addresses and I'll be glad to set up a battle for you.. WinMBT or WinWW2.. (basic security only - this doesn't work using 'full' security)

I only have the download version so slots 000 thru 004 only..

Have done games where both players let the AI purchase the force & go with that. Works pretty well it buys all the key stuff more realisticly to than players tend to. Early Eastern front WW2 for instance hardly a T-34 or KV in sight & more MkIIIs with 37s than 50s. Only problem with it is the computer makes several passes when purchasing so will get armour infantry scouts etc then the same again meaning it takes a few minutes to see what you have.
You can also use AI purchase to gauge common vehicles for the time esp in WW2 just buy 2 or 3 times for that date & see what it buys. Note if looking for certain battles & map generator has a map with a bat loc for that local it will use those forces if the dates right. So you might get rare beasties like Elefants, Ferdinands ISIIs if used there

					Hello Imp,
yes, I've let the AI purchase forces before.. usually picks fairly well, but often grants far too much artillery or airpower.. never seems to connsider tossing in paratroops, and almost never includes ammo supply or FO's..

There have been players in the past that don't like the tedium of purchasing their own troops.. so I've offered my services to do the job of the AI, but hopefully with a little more imagination and intelligence..

For those interested, the offer still stands..

Fair points & yes like the idea the whole reason for using the AI in the first place tourneys etc is to go with what you have got.

					Hi Greybeard
I really like the idea you have and would like to give it a go.
It's a good thing you do to take the time to set it up.

 Any takers out there?

I am open to anything really, though I'd prefer something 25 turns or less, WW2, ME, hand placed V hexes on a custom map.
Smaller nations preferred to keep it interesting.

Will happily leave it open, or add more rules esp. re. arty(amount, size, type, limits,FOO rules etc), air, spotter planes, zero size unit restrictions etc.

 Cheers
 Jason

					Hello Walrus,
Happy to oblige.. I see that you posted to Beppe42.. if you guys agree to a moderated game, all you need to do is figure out the rules of engagement and fwd on to me.. or, I could simply suprise you.. :stir: I always use custom maps or maps found with the game and place the v-hexes..

might be an opportunity to utilize some of those maps added in the recent map packs..

when you guys have worked out the details, kick me an e-mail with the particulars.. ([email protected] )

Cheers!
Greybeard

					Greylbeard:
If you get anymore takers that need an opponent let me know.. This sounds interesting.

OR

If anyone out there is interested let me know @ [email protected] and we can work it out and then let Greybeard in on it.

One question: What is the difference in basic and Full security. Never tried a basic security game so am kinda in the dark on what it allows over full.

Thanks
Ken
