Select whichever unit you want to do it, best to use mortars, etc., doesn't matter if they are low on ammo, can still attempt it. Then, depress the movement/Fire mode button on the bar at the bottom so it is in fire mode. Now, with both the shift/alt depressed, select your target hex, better not too far away, 2-3 hexes for mortars, 1-2 for infantry, then right click. It will tell you if it doesn't work, or a flare will pop illuminating the hex and surrounding hexes. Hope this helps!!
