I find that it is also helpful to make sure my machine is freshly rebooted and defragged at least once a week as well.

I don't even scroll on very large maps - at least in view 1. I usually use the jump map for that or navigate using view 4 or 5.

I just might use this utility you mentioned. I think I have enough ram for most purposes (2 gb), but only a 2.5 gb processor and a single 256 mb vid card.
Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.
