RE: Blitz (Campaign Series) History
Wow, talk about a trip down memory lane. I originally started on LeadEaters too long ago to remember. I came over to The Blitz in 1999 (Dang 10 years ago!) and was added as the Ladder commander for the American Civil War Ladder and the Nappy Ladder in May of 2000, I believe.
We have added some new ladders and a heck of a lot of games since then. One question / comment that I see a lot is why is my start date January of 2001? Well back in June of 2001 we made a move to the current website we are on and in the old days it was sometimes too hard to bring over old data so we all started fresh. This club in my opinion has ALWAYS been an outstanding place to gather and play games as well as discuss anything and everything that impacts out lives. If you really want to take a look back in the club’s history please take some time and check out the HQ / Command section under the tab Club and Ladder news as there is a tons of details there that paint a picture of all the changes we have seen over the years.
I’ve met so many outstanding and interesting individuals at the club over the years. A few of these individuals are club officers like Jim, Randy and Paul. Some were just fellow members like Banzai Lee, Von Luck, Baron Von Beergut, Nikos, PK Powers, General Stymiest, Phil Square, Skip Taylor, Nemesis, and of many, many others who have had a game or two with me over the years. I wish I could list all of the people that have contributed to this club over the years as staff members, scenario designers and message board contributors and just plain gamers but that list would be HUGE! I think that is what has made this club the BEST place on the web to gather and play / discuss the totally awesome games that fuel our passion for this hobby. Before I move on I do want to call out one more name, Von Earlmann. You rock dude! If any of you who play and love the Campaign series ever get a chance to play in one of his designed campaigns DO IT! You will always look back very fondly on the experience.
I think what I really love about the club the most is the people who we have met so far and the new members coming in today. We are a very diverse group from every place around the world and that makes The Blitz war gaming club the best. I hope to get to meet more of you out there on the field of battle as well as discuss all the other myriad things in our lives that make us who we are. It has truly been a pleasure to be a member and a staffer here for so many years and I look forward to many, many more!!!
Oh and for those interested in the juicy dirt on some of our more illustrious members, buy me a couple of beers and who knows what I might spill! LOL…. Thanks to each and every member of this club past and present for being a part of our community!
