Some new ideas from browsing other forums:

"Swapped my Nvidia card for an ATI Radeon. CMBB now works like a charm with Vista operating system." - Hari Seldon

"With an 8400GS card and VISTA = Setting the Antiailasing mode to "Override any application setting" eliminated the adverse video effects! The two games are still somewhat slow and jerky so I continue to monkey with Anisotropic Filtering, Antialiasing-Gamma Correction, Antialiasing settings between 2x and 16x, and Antialiasing-Transparancy settings." - Der Alte Fritz

I tried the above with my new Vista computer and Nvidia 9400 GT card and CMBB works now but it is still not as smoothly as with XP.
