#1 and 2 are covered fairly clearly in the docs I think.

Engineer Functions

All Engineer units except for Bridgelayers (see below) are capable of:

· Improving the ability to Dig-In
· Bridge Damage and Anti-Tank Ditch Destruction
· Ferrying units across Rivers and Canals
· Mine Laying
· Clearing Rubble
