EF II gold is up to 1.03 and require no patches. To get custom scenarios designed using 1.02 to run you have to do some minor file editing, and there is plenty of step by step documentation and people willing to help you along in that task. If you just have EF II though(not gold), it's your choice on 1.02 or 1.03. I would choose 1.03 personally, The files will run, they just need a little help, and you have the "latest" patch that way. I think both versions are compatible with pbem? Or am I wrong there?
