In Eagles Strike, with support available. The leader gets charged the 8Mp just to go to the support menu - - - - even if no support called or even available that turn!
Is there a way to check and see what support is available without getting charged the 8MP - or is that like we you used to say in the Navy: "There's no good reason for it - - it's just our policy."

RE: Can this be right?
If I had to guess, I'd say it is modeling the time the leader would have to take in order to make the radio call to find out what is/was available for him.
As a related aside, I found it helpful to drop all of my radios as soon as I used up my support. Otherwise I found myself in subsequent turns wasting valuable movement points double-checking to see if I had any support left. (Of course this won't help you the very first time you check for support.)
Vehicles don't use any MP to check the support dialog, so I always check for those first. They are also much better to get LOS on your target.
