I usually use the top down view when checking throught the garbage piles for the enemy!

Incidentally the top two screenshots are using my own "flat rubble' mod in which I edited out the piles of stuff littering the floor so I can see who's in there better.
It helps a bit, so if anybody wants the mod let me know.. :)
