wigam Wrote:I had SH2 and really enjoyed it, but after hearing about all the new stuff in SH4 i will get it. Might stay away from the hospital ships :smg:
I would recommend SH3 instead, I have both and I am playing SH3. I only played SH4 about 5 times. Now with that said, I haven't tried SH4 with all the mods for it at subsim.com yet either. Either way, make sure you have a pretty good system and get the mods. For SH3 get the Grey Wolves Expansion 1.03 (DL in 5 parts). But the nice thing is you can get SH3 for about $20 now instead of the $50 for SH4.

Weasel Wrote:Ok, that was my old system, 3K/mhz with 1 gig ram and I could run GW but it would chug in a convoy. I upgraded to a dual core 4200 with 2 gig ram and a modern video card X1950 pro and I play at top of the line settings no problems. NTL - you can play SH4 as I said if you can play SH3.
I have only ever sunk 1 fishing boat, at the end of a mission. I was out of torpedoes and deck gun ammo (Type II) so I rammed him which sent him to the bottom rather quickly. I like using my flak guns to set off the cargo on board merchants...WOO HOO fire works!
I can't say i have any frame rate probs......yet.
I may spring the dosh for SH4, Play.com has it for just £17.99 free P+P.
I admire Heinz Guderian; as Panzer-Heinz was one of his nicknames, I decided to modify mine from that.

What is your favorite and least favorite aspect of the Blitz website?
Favorite: the competitive aspect of the Blitz. I know that many players rightfully suggest not to take the Ladder too seriously. But I can’t help loving to climb this Ladder. I regularly look at the stats.
Least favorite: when an opponent sends his turn at too low a pace (less than 3 times / week). A pbem is like music: it needs tempo, momentum, speed. If you wait too much in between turns, the momentum and the spell are broken. For example, you don’t exactly remember where enemy arty landed at the end of your last turn. Better few games at a fast pace than many slow games !

No.

‘The History of the German Army 1939-1945’ by Philippe Masson

What piece of wisdom would you like to pass on to your fellow Blitz members?
The ‘Serenity Prayer’ that I have just discovered in the movie ‘Mr Brooks’. It is used by the US AA. It goes like this:
God, help me to accept the things that I cannot change,
And to change the things that I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Help me to take things one day at a time
And to enjoy one moment at a time.

Tears Of The Sun is a great movie. Bruce Willis is an awesome actor, may not win an Oscar but he is great to watch. He was really good in 16 Blocks too.

The Operational Art of War
TOAW has a first-rate Vietnam scenario. Campaign for South Vietnam does a good job of reflecting the political realities of the war. I'm playing two games, one as the US and one as the NLF, and in my NLF game, I am having a great deal of fun trying to lure the US player into border violations with the NVA while the VC sneak around the bush trying to pacify the central highlands.
