Off Topic But Certainly the Right Forum
If anyone is interested in something different, I am trying to put together a game of Crown of Glory:Emperor's Edition.  It's subject is "Napoleonic Wars" but in truth it could be called Risk or Axis & Allies, it's a strategy game that uses the Napoleonic Period as its subject matter. Although obviously there is combat, and lots of it, it is done at a Strategic Level so you're moving Armies and Fleets not tanks or battalions of things. The game can be played by up to 8 people via PBEM,and more is better since the heart of the game is making and breaking deals (like Diplomacy if anyone is familiar with that game)until one nation achieves the Victory Condition of earning 1000 Glory (it's earned through success lost through set backs).  Along the way you can develop your country to produce more and/or better troops/fleets, make trades and alliances for things you need, sign treaties etc.  Losing a war doesn't knock you out of a game since in the 19th Century wars ended in treaties not subjugation.

So why am I posting this here?  Well, I tried the Napoleonic Forum and it's dead as a door nail.  I tried another place on the internet and got no real interest.  So I thought I'd try and post here in the Community that knows me best, and knows my reputation for being a reliable and consistent player and maybe there's a bunch of people who just might think a diversion from our steady diet of WDS games might be fun.  The game is on sale through Matrix for $20 until the end of the year so it's not a tremendous investment.  We wouldn't start until after the New Year so you'd have some time to look it over and see if it interests you. The game is not terribly hard to master the basics of, and the game includes about 10 YouTube Videos that explain what you need to know to jump in, although I will confess that it's a lot like Chess in that the rules are easy but the nuances can be many and varied as you learn to play.  I have some experience in the game based on having played it when it was released 15 odd years ago, but that was the last time I played.  I have one other player that is as dependable and reliable as myself, so that's TWO (just 5 or 6 more to go  Smile  ).  Why the reliability - well - because in a game of alliances depending on your friends to be there is important, and with a game that can go over 100 turns it's like committing to a CG scenario from PzC.  The turns do not take very long to process; the first few turns may take a little longer than normal as you tweak your Nation's production and such, but after that the physical processing is very fast, but the making of deals will take time, so ideally a turn every 3 days would reconsidered a brisk pace which means a game can be done in 12-14 months real time.

Anyway - thanks for listening - if anyone has any questions I'd be happy to answer.  If you'd like to join in drop me a line via email or via private message here at the Blitz.
