Hi.
A lot of facts have to be taken into consideration.
Tactic depends on the side your playing.
- keep your units together in battle formation, in command range of
their leader, otherwise they´ll get fixed.
- try to attack from the flank or if the opportunity is given from the
rear. Never take on greek phalanx from the front or your men will
be killed by approx. 7 m long pikes.
attack elephants with LI only, particulary your Cavalry has to avoid
contact. Keep unshielded troops out of archers fire range.
Before your HI engages the enemy form a wedge ( not allowed for
pikemen ).
- do not split into very small units, as they´ll suffer from high fatigue
soon.
- move your commander near routing units, you´ll get a better
chance to rally
- try to retreat units suffering from high fatigue, they´ll recover.
- read about Hannibal, Scipio etc.. Study battles like Cannae, Zama,
Ilipa,Trebia etc. to understand the combined arms warfare of
ancient times.
