FWWC France '14 scenario size modifier mistake?
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place for this but... I just finished Miracle at the Marne scenario, which is in my opinion huge, and was looking at the other F'14 scenarios here in the data base and noticed that it is rated at size modifier 4. The scenarios that break down the Marne into parts are rated sm 4, which upon looking at one seems appropriate. Seems like the full Marne scenario should be rate much higher.

Obviously that could be argued but that is what was determined, by whoever made decisions at that point, or joint discussions. But it was decades back and that applies to all PzC scenarios from the first to the last. So it won't be changed now, I would expect. The ladder would not recalculate points for already reported games, so it would not be fair to those already reported with the current points.
Thank you for clarifying

Because the scenario you played fell into the 21 to 50 turns line then the maximum size modifier is 4 regardless of the file size.
As Rick says this table has determined the size modifier for the last 27 years and the logic behind it predates my time at the club, so like Rick I cannot cast any light onto the decisions that lay behind its creation.

Thanks, I had been looking at the sm as a way to gauge how big the map and the forces were, I see it's better to just read the description.

RE: FWWC France '14 scenario size modifier mistake?
I created that damned chart but how or why I snapped the chalk lines where I did I can no longer recall. I know that initially we just used the number of turns as the qualifier for SM and we knew in short order that it simply wasn't adequate. So we created the chart to allow for larger SMs for scenarios based on file size because some "short" scenarios actually had quite a lot of units (and some had a lot of units but not a lot of turns). Anyway, back then (over 20 years ago) ladder updates were done manually by the Custodians so it was a labor of love to go back and reset the Ladder.
Anyway - if blame needs to be slung - I'm the target. I'm sure it made sense at the time.

That is actually a fairly accurate description of the Blitz Circa 1999
