West Front / Western Front VERSION 1.0a 12/98 - Tyroken - 04-11-2026 Dear all, i recently played East Front from 1998 until i got an error i couldn´t solve and deleted it. Found it on my old computer and remembered that i have played it many years ago. Than i noticed while checking my boxes with old software that i have West Front/Western Front, too and installed it successfully but when starting a mission or campaign it crashes.  I got out of the readme.txt that i have the version VERSION 1.0a  12/98 and read that i should upgrade it to version 1.05, but i cannot find the patch 1.05 anywhere. Would try to first patch the game and if i have further problems i would try to use dgVoodoo2 or DXWnd trying to get the game running. Can someone provide the patch 1.05 or does someone know where to get it? RE: West Front / Western Front VERSION 1.0a 12/98 - Scud - 04-18-2026 Hi Tyroken, The Talonsoft version of the game stopped working with Windows 7(?) or thereabouts. Talonsoft then went out of business. Jason Petho was able to resurrect the old game in a deal with Slitherine games / Matrixgames. His team reworked the code and the game was repackaged under the name John Tiller's Campaign Series. This was back around 2014. The new game still works and is sold by Matrix Games. You can get it here: https://www.matrixgames.com/game/john-tillers-campaign-series. It's much better than the old game, still very enjoyable and has it's own forum here at the Blitz. Also available under separate covers, but using the same engine is the CSME (Middle East) game and CSVN (Vietnam). The Vietnam game includes lua scripted scenarios which vastly improve play against the computer. The devs are also working on a Cold War game. Unfortunately, there are no more updates planned for JTCS, v1.05 was the last I think, but it's still worth buying and there are plenty of members who'll give you a game if you're interested in play-by-email. We have an on-going tournament running that you can join and leave anytime between rounds, too. Also, try installing the x86 version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26368. It won't hurt your machine to have it. You can have multiple versions. It's required for the newer game too. But as i got Eastern Front runnig, i hopefully can get WF working, too. Looked for the patches all over the web, but you had been the last hope to find them. Just wondering why i couldn´t find the patch in the download area. I will try to get the game working and if it does not run i will take a look at JTCS. Thank you again.
