JTCS 2.03 UPDATE - Turn Counter - Jason Petho - 05-30-2025

With the pending 2.03 UPDATES for the JTCS, one of the things being looked at is removing the 2 turn warning.

Do you prefer to:

1. Keep everything as it is.

2. Remove turn counter from Command Report, also remove the Player Alert.

3. Remove the Player Alert, but keep the turn counter in Command Report.

RE: JTCS 2.03 UPDATE - Turn Counter - Crossroads - 05-30-2025

From a coder’s point of view:

1. Keep the current message box that pops up when opening your opponent's PBEM turn as is. It only appears when the save count reaches a certain level, displaying the generic text: "Number of Saves Exceeds Two." Title of the message box reads: "Player Alert". The text remains the same whether there were 5 or 55 saves during the opponent's play phase.

Note that the "Player Alert" message box only displays if there has been 4 or more saves during opponent play.

2. Remove the Player Allert message box, also remove the turn count information from Command Report. Middle East and Vietnam do not have either of these in their PBEM open-turn sequence.

3. Remove the Player Alert, but keep the Turn Saves = X (which displays if X >= 2) in the Command Report for JTCS.

Edited for clarity.

PS The background story: Matrix asked us to provide a new build to add a ”white screen” hot-fix, and we finally can, see my post HERE

RE: JTCS 2.03 UPDATE - Turn Counter - Scud - 05-30-2025

I'm not going to vote, but as a moderator, I want to point something out:

I've had cheating complaints from players whose opponent exceeds the save warning after every turn on very small scenarios where a turn takes all of a couple of minutes to play. Begging the question, why?

I always tell the complaining player to finish the game and not play another game with that opponent. Over the years, that seems to be a consensus. If you are suspected of cheating, players will stop playing you; eventually, you will go away. Fair or unfair, that's the way it is.

Does the warning signal cheating? Or something else? I'm on the fence.

As I tend to over-analyze everything, the "turn counter" is actually in the Command Report, while there is the  Player Alert with a warning there's been more than two saves. So should I read the vote as:

1. Keep everything as it is.

2. Remove turn counter from Command Report, also remove the Player Alert.

3. Remove the Player Alert, but keep the turn counter in Command Report.

I guess these options would make more sense, and maybe this is what Jason suggested? I am happy to follow as what is the consensus here.

Jason, to undestand what is requested, wanna clarify the opening post for us simpletons out here Confused

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it is not interfering with anything, don' make extra work for yourself.

RE: JTCS 2.03 UPDATE - Turn Counter - Hawk Kriegsman - 05-31-2025

My vote would be to leave it on.

Keep it.
