F 40 Gold attack value question - jonnymacbrown - 05-02-2022

The French 150 mm mortars have an attack value for infantry of 7. Dutch 80 mm mortars have a soft target attack value of 11. Can the Design Team please explain this? Thanks jonny Propeller Hat

I am not a designer on F40, but know a bit about the weapons. First, a 150 mm mortar is massive. The French 150 was a 1917 design. Its sustained rof over longer periods was 2, maybe 3 rounds per minute, 4 in bursts. No idea how good its shell was, including whether they were still 1917 shell tech.

Most 80 mm mortars could do burst of 30 rounds per minute, and 15 to 20 sustained.

So I can easily see the 80 being higher than the 150. The ratings aren't per shell but total rounds on target (so accuracy matters) so there can be a lot of variability.

Thanks Ricky B! I am playing the French now in a big campaign and wanted to make sure I was getting all my fair share of firepower. Whip

It could still be off from the desired value, but no idea there. Definitely always nice to have more firepower.

The answer is unfortunately much simpler and stupider....

I forgot a "1..." The proper hard attack for the French 150mm Fabry mortars is supposed to be 17.

This (and myriad other issues) are being in addressed in an forthcoming update.
