Looking for opponents [matchmaking] - Eckerslyke - 12-09-2021

I am interested in getting some experience of naval battling over the network. My only wargaming experience to date has been PBEM.

I own Tsushima, and plan to get Midway soon.

Would anyone out there be interested in trying out battling in real time?

Failed to attain a milestone there.

As weeks passed, and nobody offered to take me on as an opponent, although the numbers of readers continued to increase, I began to speculate whether I could reach 100 readers, with no offers of battle, by the New Year. Well, I have to admit failure on that score. It's Jan 1, and so far I have only reached 91!

Seriously though, what am I doing wrong here? Perhaps I have a less-popular title I am playing, Tsushima. Well, I've just purchased Midway, so perhaps that will attract some interest.

Or perhaps network battling is not a common thing? It is certainly more challenging than PBEM to set up. But we grognards have never balked at difficulties in setting up battles, surely?

So, while waiting, let's have some entertainment on the side.

I'll open a book on whether I can make it to 200 reads (with or without offers of battle) by Easter.

Any takers?

*(Not sure if this really should count as an achievement!)

BINGO!

200 reads, but no bites.  Oh dear.

Will I ever get to play against a human opponent via a network?
The Wargaming Community holds its breath.

You have the heart of a true grognard, Willy. Will we reach 300 views?

Good luck on your naval endeavors!

Odd, nothing showed up, not even in spam. It's just a gmail account, not sure why it would be picky. Forum settings are okay, even got the subscription update about this thread.

Sorry, can you try direct messaging?

ISPs are the enemies of everything that is good and wholesome in the world.

Alternatively, How I learned to stop worrying and love the PBEM.

That is all.

EDIT: Addendum - When life gives you lemons, put them into an industrial press and eventually you'll get something to work.
