Direct vs Indirect Fire - Lethal - 05-26-2021

Greetings!

As you know direct fire is moderated according to range from the target (p. 55).

The instruction for indirect fire does not mention this.

Is the indirect fire unit attack factor good for all ranges?

... or is it moderated like direct fire?

thx

L

Greetings Lethal,

There is no range effect applied to indirect fire other than the prevention of fire beyond the maximum range.

I presume the manual does not mention it simply because it has no effect.

Hi John,

Thx for the reply. Now that I have had a bit of time to think about it, it makes sense given the intent and design of indirect fire equipment. I was thinking about the accuracy of ww2 arty over distance being an issue, but with FO adjusting fire etc. Plus, at the PzC scale it probably is a non-issue.

Cheers,

L

Also keep in mind that indirect fire is an area weapon where suppression is almost as important as kills. Direct fire has to hit the target and hence the different parameters...
