1776 Graphics Test - Farquahar Chinstrap - 04-20-2019

[attachment=4740][attachment=4739]First Post.

Been toying with 1776 Graphics - Crown Forces and Loyalists.

Went for a larger scale as 1776 goes down to Coy level.  I tried a smaller scale multiple figure units but they were dwarfed by the terrain and looked odd.

As you can see the bases will need modifying.

RE: 1776 Graphics Test - Xaver - 04-21-2019

Very good job, even when i am more fan of small soldiers your mod looks really nice, maybe, as suggestion you can try add a 2 or 3 of soldiers behind the line of 4 soliders in line formation.

For me best soldier is the one equiped with the bicorne i dont know why grenadiers look strange... the face is not the face... like hat eat it (maybe i have this impresion because under face is a black area).

PD: expect after PzC, MC and Nap serie we can see some WDSing in EAW serie... and why not a new title hehehe.

Looks nice, will you be doing a full set of 3D unit graphics for the game?

RE: 1776 Graphics Test - Farquahar Chinstrap - 04-22-2019

I have re-designed the man eating busby (it's the one on the left if - you can't tell :-) )

I have quickly resized the unit graphics from 100% to 70% in 2 ranks.  The image also shows 1, 2 and 3 Coys in the same hex.  It could be a personal thing but find the larger figures better. we visited the Colonies last year and I managed to get in a look at Stoney Point battle-site so I think the larger figures best suit the typical scale of the AWI battles.  Plus when you have larger numbers in one hex it resembles a Ben Hur crowd scene and they just turn into a red blob.  The big image shows how the original images look on the game.

I had planned to look at the graphics, however with work and life etc mean this could take time.  Plus I want some feedback on what looks best before starting.

I have found matching the uniforms on the original 100 C file with the new graphics difficult at times - a lot of research has clearly gone into the original game. A list of units by row would be useful.  Plus I need to conduct more research.

I did think that a re-organisation of the 3d graphics could be:

Regulation uniforms i.e. what Regiments should look like.  There are only so many British army facing colours, for example.
Campaign Uniforms - modifications and wear and tear
Unique uniforms - those that don't fit any obvious category.

This would let you choose the appropriate uniform for the unit at that stage of the campaign.  However this would involved a lot of OOB modification etc.

I am also considering adding regimental flags.  You could modify the leader file or add an extra row on the 100C file.

RE: 1776 Graphics Test - Xaver - 04-22-2019

Good job, they look very impressive.

The big soldiers (100% 4 soldiers) looks very well but in my taste i dont dislike smaller soldier versions.

The regimental flag sure add a good inmersion taste and more colour to the 3D mode, if i dont remember bad is a mod... i think it was for french indian war, where the unit portrait has as background behind the soldier face the regimental flag, something like this in a combo add a lot inmersion.

I dont think is necessary over complicated different 3D graphics with different uniforms best thing is have the "combat" version and only if is necesary a change add an extra 3D version for that specific unit.

PD: thanks for the grenadier change, i can sleep now, i think when i saw it in movies like alien or Half Life crabs hehehe.

[attachment=4745]  I have attached examples which cover regulation uniform, campaign uniform, the Saratoga and Southern Campaigns.

You can also download a trial 100C file here:  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/h1r0plnar5o3vnx/AADLR0d9pTNtzFv4SbfC7jMca?dl=0

Let me know if the above link doesn't work.

Please make copies of your original file before you copy it into the Map folder.

Nice work!

RE: 1776 Graphics Test - 19 Delta - 05-19-2019

Really nice work ,
There isnt many 3d unit mods available for this title or the EAW series something new would be enthusiastically  welcomed.

RE: 1776 Graphics Test - Farquahar Chinstrap - 06-04-2019

The below link is for his Majesty's Forces in the Colonies.  Can I have some feedback on uniform accuracy and missed Regiments.  i know there are several Scottish Regts missing.

It is organised into Guards and Line.
Line are in generic facings in a variety of dress.
There are bespoke Line units i.e. those units with a unique uniform.
Highlanders
Grenadiers
Light Infantry
Saratoga campaign

I am also working on those Americans who remained loyal to the Crown on separate sheet.

This is an example of Huron figures - you can build figures.  Not really a native American expert - figures look a bit too much like Aztecs or Mad Max?

Each box is different and has a loose formation for the line and column.
