Engine update for some titles? - melm - 02-07-2017

I've checked HPS website on squad battles titles' update log. I found that some titles such as Tour of Duty, Vietnam seem to be update to the latest engine like adding leader morality modifier, adding F key for hotkey, hiding weapon etc. Some titles like Korean War or Eagles Strike do not have such new feature. Will these titles receive updates to have the same engine as the other ones?

PS. Squad Battles seem have no new update or new title for 2 years. Anyone has any news for this series?  Big Grin

Updates are being worked on now for this entire series...but it will be later in the year before most see the light of day.

With that said, no further updates will be released through the HPS site for any John Tiller game...only through the JTS site - http://www.johntillersoftware.com/ - owners of HPS versions of the game will be converted for free when an update is released...just need proof of purchase to validate you. Will the updates make the games available through the JTS Menu Program?

Proof of purchase 10+ years after buying a game is probably going to be difficult for most of us.  Those receipts are LOOOOOOONG gone!

What's needed is for someone to be able to get the source code similar to WDS getting Panzer Battles. Then we can see some much requested new features and give the old girl and whole new lease of life..she deserves it:)

Might be a dumb question, but what happens to all the cool mods from Iron X like Long War and others?

They should still work fine.  Might need to reinstall after updating the engine.

Been re-thinking this. Once the old versions get replaced by the JTS digital versions, there is a real chance that the full-game mods will not work since you are limited to the number of copies per game you have. At that point it might be worth keeping the older HPS version on your machine to incorporate into the full game mods.

Will have to cross that bridge when it comes, I guess.
