Fragile Morale Question - Ashantai - 09-21-2014

Recently got East Prussia and I noticed that one of the additions was the 'Fragile Morale' rule for Russians and A-H armies.

Two questions regarding this:
- It says 'Units which must retreat from an assault are automatically eliminated', is that any assault, or only when they're trapped?
- It says A and B quality units are exempt, are those units always exempt, even if they're say disrupted or out of command (lowering their quality below A or B)?

Thanks in advance!

C or worse quality units are only totally eliminated when they have no valid retreat path (before this rule was introduced it could take several turns to wipe out very large stacks of trapped enemy stacks.)

A & B quality troops are never affected by this rule no matter what their condition is.

OK, so this basically functions like the 'Optional Surrender' optional rule all the time?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, but remember the optional surrender rule impacts on broken units of any nation and any quality.

The Fragile Morale rule works in just the same way, but extends the "no retreat path" effects to include disrupted and non disrupted units (of C quality or worse) from Nations with Fragile Morale.

It is bad enough if your disrupted/undisrupted troops from " normal" nations are surrounded and assaulted, but at least the time it takes to reduce them to broken status and eliminate them can tie up your opponents units for a few moves, with fragile morale nations huge stacks can disappear in one turn allowing your opponent to continue his attack. :(

I understand now, thanks again!
