If you can try and get a new PC with Win 7 on it rather than Win 8. As for which version to get, I do not particularly like the W8 user interface, but it was possible to revert to a W7 look and feel with an extra app. I just thought gettingvthe latest OS for a computer that will serve me a good few years would be the way to go. The game runs in all of them.
