Hotseat in Afghanistan... - Jim von Krieg - 06-15-2012

Well guys it's official... I'm pretty sure Scott and I did the first EVER East Front hot seat game in Afghanistan very early last Friday...

It wasn't pretty and there was panzer and T34 wreckage everywhere... but it was a good time as we duked it out on the electronic fields of battle...

I just love the extreme assault as my lone anti-tank gun held up an entire panzer column... Scott couldn't kill it quickly and it didn't succumb to assault very easily... Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

Jim von Kabul...

There is no fighting in the War Room. Well, we continue the battle tomorrow morning at o'dark thirty before everyone else wakes up...

Dueling pistols at dawn AND that is pretty damn early here...

Ed, you have way too many warring smiley faces....

Well after the first engagement, Scott's forces were a little worse for wear... Burning Panzers litter the Russian countryside... Game over...

In the second engagement, the issue is still in doubt, but with all the burning T34s, I'm feeling the battle swinging my way... But he still has lots of fight left in him... And more T34s... And a few KVs rolling into the fight... There are Panzers burning, but my Mk III's faired well in the close in exchanges... And the Mk IV's are getting some good shots in...

First one was 24th Panzer Cav...

Current one is Counterstroke at Iloyavsk... We're both pretty aggressive commanders and got into it pretty quick... I caught him coming over the ridge with the 75mm longs as he closed... Then I was locked in close with the 50's against the T34 swarm.. He's bleeding a lot more than I... But the KV I see is moving forward towards a key VP hex... As another group of T34s play with my engineers on my right flank...

Hot seat just doesn't give the think time pbem does... Less methodical and more seat of your pants... But it does give a sense of the moment as you listen to your opponent move and shoot... And their reaction to events..

Very cool! Thumbs Up
Two of my favorite scenarios ... and just the way I like to play it. Organ

Though, sometimes the seat of my pants gets stained. Holy Cow

Especially when the KV's are rolling forward against early war panzers. Tank7
