US manual on Soviet military 1984 - Vaevictis - 06-10-2012

Great stuff. What the manual describes, though, seems so different from how the Soviets work in Modern campaigns, particularly in terms of how little space they need to deploy in MC. For instance, attacking with 3 MRR battalions in a 1.7 km wide/single hex frontage is routine, whereas the manual suggests they would be deployed 1 battalion to a hex.

Can anyone else speak to how what the manual describes and what happens in a MC game compare?
