What does ELO stand for? - PawelM - 09-11-2011

This is a no brainer for any long term member of th Blitz. What does ELO in the ladders (i.e. first column from the right) stand for?

Thanks

Pawel

The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games such as chess. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-born American physics professor.

In club terms the higher your ELO the better your performance has been against opponents with equally good records. ;)

Does it mean that if I collect enough ELO points I will get discounted ticket for their show? ;)

The discount and one of those little squiggly type bulbs.

Do ya do ya want my points?...love?...better stick with the points Ed...they probably have to prop them up on canes for the show...with wireless pacemakers...(:O)

JB-Von Luck listens to them on his grammaphone...big fan I hear...

Von Luck...I guess I'd lean towards "old salt" with "crank-like tendencies"?

I used to be one of the old farts, and still am of course at the double nickel, but having met this bunch I realize with the right preservative you can extend your shelf life and game into your 90's...

(Did I type that out loud?)
