Reading file error for Kursk '43 - Graeme - 04-18-2011

Hi
Twice I've done clean installs first, install Hps patches second, then third Volcano's man updates. I open a scenario 1 time and I can't open any others after that. I get a "error reading file" message. Rebooting doesn't solve problem. Game in qustion Kursk '43

Ray

That's almost always going to be a problem with the scenario in question. It usually means that there is a problem either with the OOB or the pdt file that the scenario needs to play.

Which specific scenario from Kursk '43 was this?

Not trying to muddy the waters but are you making sure all the downloads are going into the folder C:\John Tiller Software

Hi
Yes, first time I've run into this problem.

That's an odd one. I started reading this thread & out of curiosity I tried loading that scenario and it works fine. I also tried the variant 0707_01a scenario and Volcano Man's alt versions and they work too. I'm running the game on a Windows XP machine btw so the game is installed to the default Program Files location. Is Volcano Man's art pack the only mod that you have installed?

RE: Reading file error for Kursk '43 - Volcano Man - 04-19-2011

As Gasbag said, I tried it too and it loads. Try loading any a hand full of random other scenarios with "_Alt" on the end of them and see if they load. If not, then the K43 update from HPS was not applied correctly.

So did you get your game working?

Hi
I tried a clean install again(3rdx), got the same error. Only the alt scenarios, the map loads with no unit counters. Standard scenarios loads with no problem. I'm going to download updates again, maybe the file was corrupt when I downloaded. This is a recent problem. I had just finish a game mid march, I believe and decided to update the game with newer update.

Well, you definitely need to get the update from HPS for the Alt scenarios to work. Be sure you are getting/installing that first.

Hi Everyone.
Thanks for the tips.
Problem solved by downloading patches and updates and the reinstalling.
One of the previous files might had been corrupt.
