Help me to decide - P.Ako - 07-14-2010

My next buy:

Kharkov 42

or

Market Garden 44

Which one has more mods? And which one has better stock scens? Which map is more interesting for modding?
Does any of the kharkov mods include the spanish blue division? IIRC they took part in one battle around there.

You can check that out for yourself by looking at the Mods sub-forums for these titles. ;)

Can't speak for the mods, but if you play the default game at all and the division was present during the period in the battle, than the unit will be in the OOB - but not as a Spanish Division - part of the German Army.

As for which one - - what battle interests you the most - two very different situations you are asking about here with PROs and CONs to each.

the blue division was attached to Army Group North and was not at Kharkov

but the division did not participate in Typhoon, it was attached to the 18th army and spent 1941 around Lake Ilmen

have to wait for PzC Leningrad to get to see them

Yes you're right they were in the area around Leningrad, in fact their most famous battle was in Krasny Bor.

The pros of MG44 for me are the strategic options and the AB divisions.

Pros of K42?: I don't know yet.

So i think i'll adquire MG44

RE: Help me to decide - Strela - 07-14-2010

There no bad Panzer Campaign Games.

MG '44 is a small playable battle with losts of options and a campaign that can be completed in a reasonable amount of your lifetime.

K '42 is a much bigger map with a fascinating strategic situation - both sides essentially going on the offensive simultaneously. A player in the campaign will find himself slashing forward in one sector and in desperate defence in the other.

Of course their are medium and small scenarios in each.

As far as mods both are healthy, though MG '44 only covers the same basic situation. On the other hand their were 4 battles of Kharkov of which K '42 is the second. Members of the community have put out some very reasonable scenarios of the later battles so thats worth considering also....
