Which game is better for newbie to try? - FM WarB - 12-02-2008

I've been following this forum and the updates to the game. Which might be suggested for first buy, Punic Wars or Gallic Wars?

Have the Romans ever won the battle of Cannae?
Do Barbarians have much chance against Roman legions?

Well Punic wars title covers a lot more ground that just those wars against Carthage but it also covers Pyrrhic war and a whole range of small to massive scenarios of those conflicts, other wars of the 3rd Century BC are possible to recreate, (and some are downloadable as extra scenarios here).

I've not played the scenario Cannae personally so can't say though a multi-player game I'm involved of Zama, and so far it's not looking good for the Romans. :(

Yes it is possible for the Gauls to beat the Legions in the GW title, Gallic Wars has a much narrower focus though other armies like the Pontus army of Mithridates are included also.

If your new to the period, for the ease of understanding tactics I would pick Gallic wars and also for variation of terrian and sieges.

Though I could be slightly biased. :whis:;)
