Kharkov'42 GC_ALT question - Indragnir - 03-11-2008

Hi Ed!

I just finished checking Kharkov GC_alt version (last version) and I realize something, in stock campaign russian infantry units have HA 4/1, SA 9/1 Assault 14, Russian Guards infantry units have HA 4/1, SA 10/1 Assault 16.

In your version russian infantry units have HA 1/0 SA 5/1 Assault 10, while Russian Guard infantry units have HA 4/0 HA 4/1 Assault 9.

My question is: is this intentional or maybe it's a miscalculation of your MacNamara formula?

Bests Regards

No, this is intentional according to his numbers and apparently has something to do with AT rifle vs. machine gun mix of both types of units. At vmods.com forum we were looking into 45mm AT regimental guns playing a factor but, so far, it turns out that these were so ineffective and so few that they are already factored into the soft attack ratings being that the hard attack was so poor. For the most part early war soviet infantry (1941-42) were pretty helpless against enemy tanks if they aren't backed up by soviet tanks or AT guns.

Another thing to look at when making a fair comparison of stock fire values to the VM ALT values, is the defensive values of the enemy units in each OOB.
