RE: help pbem games - keepitloki - 01-31-2008

This is for SPWW2.
Once you have an opponent decide whether you are playing a scenario or a battle.

1 - If you're playing a scenario you have to be player one to set it up (I think).
When you open it pick both sides as Human, enter the password you want to use and press enter.
Then click continue on the next screen.
You'll arrive at a screen that offers which PBEM slot you want to use. Pick one. Enter whatever you want to call it, if anything. Once you press enter it'll take you back to the main menu. (ignore step 2, that's for battles)

2- Battles are a little more complicated but essentially work the same. First, as player one you have to set up the game. Decide with your opponent who is playing what country/faction, what date/year, how many points you have to spend, whether you are playing meeting engagement/assault/delay and any other special rules like number of airstrikes and what percentage of points can be spent on what. Most people will ask for 10% artillery and I'll always say "NO ******* HELECOPTERS FOR WW2!!!" (pet gripe).
Once you've chosen all these settings you get to pick your forces using the points you chose. Once this is done click "DONE" and you'll be at that familiar password screen: same deal, enter your chosen password press enter, choose the slot you agreed on with your opponent press enter: back to the main menu.

3 - Now exit the game and go to your e-mail account (from here on it may vary depending on your OS and e-mail provider. I have windows and hotmail.)
Choose to attatch a file to the e-mail you'll send to your opponent, select browse, go to the SP folder and select the PBEM sub folder.
When you open it you'll see the PBEM files you have saved. There are 2 of them. right click on each and choose to send to zip folder (you must zip both). Send this with your e-mail.
When you gat a turn back, open the zip folder, download it and extract the files to the PBEM sub folder. Now when you open up SP you'll be able to play your turn when you go to PBEM games and select the correct slot (or deploy your forces if you're playing a battle). Both players must be using the same PBEM slot (000 to 004 on the download version).

If I left anything out don't worry about asking. If I came across as patronising (and slightly illiterate) I apologise.

Or for a more simple answer, open the SPWW2 folder, go to "game notes" and choose the SPWW2 guide. It'll take you to the CAMO workshop site with everything (pretty much) you need to know.

Check out the multitude of guides at the top of the ladder. These explain how to set up games and provide PBEM tips; plus they have been put together with tips from very experienced PBEM members.
