War Is Declared! - Grrr - 05-26-2007

War is Declared, September 3, 1939
"This..... Is London...... At nine o'clock this morning, London time, it was announced that a two hour ultimatum had been delivered to Germany, that at the end of that time, hostilities must cease or Germany and Britain would be at War. At 11:15, the Prime Minister spoke to the nation, he stated that no reply had been received to the ultimatum and that Britain and Germany were at War. Shortly after the Prime Minister's speech, the air raid sirens went off, and it wasn't a pleasant sound......."

This is an actual except from a Edward R. Murrow broadcast. Murrow and his fellow reporters, who he recruited and were affectionately called his Boys, brought the war to the living rooms in America during the War and played an important part in helping to persuade the American public that joining the British in the War was necessary.

During the next few days, It's my hope that I'll be able to mimic the style and tenor of the Murrow Broadcasts and bring you the reports of the Panzer Campaigns Team Competition at Tiller Con II in a fun and interesting way.

Here's the Broadcasting lineup;

From the Capitals:
London: Edward R. Murrow
Berlin: William Shirer
Moscow:: Bill Downs

From the Front Lines:
Western Front: Eric Sevarreid
Med. Front: Charles Collingwood
Russian Central Front: Larry LeSuer
Russian Southern Front: Cecil Brown
Making special reports from the Convention itself will be:
Howard K. Smith

Stay tuned this weekend, This should be fun!
