Budapest '45: Challenge and Interesting Idea - HirooOnoda - 04-07-2007

As any good PC player would have done, I have ordered my copy of B'45.

Would anyone be up for a game played WITHOUT fog of war so that we could post the on-going game's turn by turn after action reports and screen shots?

I think most here would enjoy watching an on-going game.

Any takers?

Hiroo

It's a shocking thought, playing one of these without fog of war. If I wanted to do that, I'd just set up and play _Wacht am Rhein_ or _Drang Nach Osten_.

Shocking? It would be just like playing a board game where all the counters are on the map.

It would be fun to get comments and observations from the board I thought.

It's a good idea :)

Actually you can get the same effect by running the replay with a screen capture program in the background. Just snap a few shots during the replay and decide which is best for an AAR of the turn.

Kind of works like aerial recon photos.

But you wouldnt' want to display this "screen capture" until the end of the game.

We have all sorts of AAR reports posted (not enough though).

I think it would be interesting to get a game going, perhaps even a team game, where after each turn each side could post their notes and screen shots at the end of each turn.

Why would this be different than being able to see the whole board all the time? Actually, it would be better because the intel would be more limited.

The best way to do this is to have a third party who knows both passwords and all moves are cc'ed to that person. He in turn will post the screen shots on the board, which both players have sworn not to read. This is the best of both worlds and will be a better replay for the club to watch "in progress". If you would like, I'd be willing to be the neutral third party for your game. I would probably make a post about progress each game-day, along with private comments from each player. Let me know....

Great idea Fury.

I'm kidding. _Wacht am Rhein_ and _Drang Nach Osten_ were monster board games.
